Cloud Compliance Assessment in UAE
What Is Cloud Compliance Assessment?
A cloud compliance assessment measures a cloud environment against the specific regulatory and standards requirements that apply to an organisation, then documents which controls are met, which are partially met and which are missing, with evidence for each.
Cloud creates particular compliance questions: where does regulated data physically reside, who holds the encryption keys, how is privileged access to the control plane governed, how long are logs retained, and how is the provider itself assessed as a third party?
UAE organisations frequently face several frameworks at once. Our assessment produces one unified control set mapped to all of them, so a single piece of evidence satisfies multiple auditors.
Compliance Challenges We Solve
Unclear residency position
Nobody can state with evidence where regulated data is stored, processed and backed up.
Shared responsibility gaps
Controls assumed to be the provider’s responsibility are actually yours, and nobody owns them.
Overlapping frameworks
NESA, DESC ISR, PDPL, ISO 27001 and PCI DSS each demand similar evidence in different formats.
Evidence collected in panic
Screenshots gathered the week before an audit instead of continuous, exportable control evidence.
Provider due diligence
The cloud provider is a critical third party but has never been formally assessed or documented.

2. Assess
Technical and documentary review of cloud controls against each requirement.
3. Remediate
Prioritised gap closure with configuration, policy and process changes.
4. Evidence & Sustain
Audit-ready evidence packs plus automated continuous compliance monitoring.
Why Choose Skytech for Cloud Compliance?
Skytech Cyber Cloud combines GRC consultants who work with UAE regulators daily with cloud engineers who can prove and fix controls technically. We have supported banks, government entities, healthcare providers and fintechs across the UAE and GCC through cloud compliance assessments and audits.
- Regulator-ready evidence: documentation in the format NESA, DESC, CBUAE and QSAs expect.
- One control set, many frameworks: assess once, report to everyone.
- Technically validated: we verify controls in the console, not from a questionnaire.
- Automation afterwards: continuous compliance so the next audit is not another project.

Cloud Compliance FAQs
Does using a certified cloud provider make us compliant?
No. Provider certifications such as ISO 27001 or CSA STAR cover the provider’s infrastructure. Your configuration, identities, data handling, monitoring and governance remain your responsibility and are what regulators assess.
Must UAE data stay inside the UAE?
It depends on the data and the regulator. The PDPL allows transfers with adequate protection or safeguards, while CBUAE, DESC and certain health and government rules impose stricter residency and approval requirements. We determine exactly which rules bind your data and document the position.
Which frameworks do you assess cloud against?
NESA/UAE IA, Dubai DESC ISR, ADHICS, CBUAE regulations, UAE PDPL, DIFC and ADGM data protection laws, ISO 27001 and 27017, PCI DSS, SOC 2 and, for GCC groups, SAMA CSF and NCA ECC.
How long does a cloud compliance assessment take?
A single framework against one cloud platform takes 3 to 4 weeks. A multi-framework assessment across a complex estate typically takes 6 to 10 weeks including evidence preparation.
Can you automate ongoing compliance?
Yes. We implement continuous control monitoring through CSPM platforms and policy as code so that compliance drift is detected immediately and evidence is collected automatically rather than manually before each audit.
Will you support us during the actual audit?
Yes. We prepare evidence packs, run mock audits and attend regulator, certification body or QSA sessions alongside your team to answer technical questions and manage findings.
