Microsoft Zero Trust Architecture in UAE
What Is Microsoft Zero Trust?
Microsoft’s zero trust model applies three principles — verify explicitly, use least-privilege access and assume breach — across six pillars: identity, endpoints, applications, data, infrastructure and networks.
What makes the Microsoft approach practical is that each pillar maps to a product most organisations already license: Entra ID for identity, Intune for endpoints, Defender for Cloud Apps for applications, Purview for data, Defender for Cloud for infrastructure and Entra Global Secure Access for network.
The signal is shared. A device marked non-compliant in Intune can block access through conditional access; a risky sign-in in Entra can trigger a session restriction. That integration is what turns zero trust from theory into enforcement.
Zero Trust Challenges We Solve
Strategy with no delivery
A zero trust roadmap exists but no control in production has actually changed.
Pillars done in isolation
MFA enabled but no device compliance requirement, so the signals never combine.
Unmanaged and BYOD devices
Personal devices reach corporate data with no compliance check or app protection.
Legacy VPN dependence
Network access still grants broad reach rather than per-application authorisation.
Fear of business disruption
Enforcement deferred indefinitely because nobody wants to be responsible for lockouts.
Our Zero Trust Services
Zero Trust Assessment & Roadmap
Maturity assessment across all six Microsoft pillars with a phased, licence-aware delivery plan.
Identity Pillar Implementation
Phishing-resistant MFA, conditional access, PIM and identity protection in Entra ID.
Endpoint Pillar Implementation
Intune enrolment, compliance policies, app protection for BYOD and device-based conditional access.
Application Pillar
App discovery, session controls and governance through Defender for Cloud Apps.
Data Pillar
Sensitivity labels, encryption and DLP so protection travels with the data.
Infrastructure Pillar
Defender for Cloud posture and workload protection with just-in-time VM access.
Network Pillar & ZTNA
Entra Global Secure Access or partner ZTNA replacing broad VPN access.
Continuous Verification & Reporting
Monitoring of access decisions, policy effectiveness and maturity progression over time.
Our Zero Trust Approach
1. Assess & Map Licences
Measure maturity per pillar and identify which controls your current licences already permit.
2. Sequence
Order work by risk reduction per unit of disruption, starting with identity.
3. Pilot & Enforce
Report-only rollout, impact analysis, then enforcement in waves with support ready.
4. Measure
Track maturity, policy coverage and access anomalies continuously.
Why Choose Skytech for Microsoft Zero Trust?
Skytech Cyber Cloud has delivered Microsoft zero trust programmes for banks, government entities, healthcare providers and enterprises across the UAE and GCC, with engineers certified in SC-100, SC-300, MS-500 and AZ-500.
- Delivered, not documented: policies live in production, with measured coverage.
- Licence-first: we exhaust what E3 and E5 already provide before proposing new spend.
- No surprise lockouts: report-only analysis and staged waves at every step.
- Regulation-aligned: controls mapped to NESA/UAE IA, DESC ISR, CBUAE and ISO 27001.

Microsoft Zero Trust FAQs
Can we achieve zero trust with Microsoft 365 E3?
Substantially, yes. E3 with Entra ID P1 and Intune covers conditional access, device compliance, app protection and basic data labelling. E5 adds risk-based policies, Privileged Identity Management, advanced DLP and insider risk. We map your licences to the pillars before recommending upgrades.
Which pillar should we start with?
Identity, in almost every case. Phishing-resistant MFA, conditional access and removing standing privilege deliver the largest risk reduction fastest, and the device pillar depends on identity policies to enforce compliance.
How does conditional access use device compliance?
Intune evaluates each device against your compliance policy — encryption, patch level, antivirus state, jailbreak status — and marks it compliant or not. Conditional access then requires compliance before granting access, so an unmanaged or unhealthy device cannot reach corporate data even with valid credentials.
Can we support BYOD under zero trust?
Yes. App protection policies secure corporate data inside managed applications on personal devices without enrolling or managing the whole device, which satisfies both security and employee privacy expectations.
How long does a Microsoft zero trust programme take?
Identity and endpoint foundations typically take 3 to 5 months. A full programme covering all six pillars usually runs 9 to 18 months, delivered in phases with value at each stage.
Does zero trust satisfy UAE regulatory requirements?
It supports them strongly. NESA/UAE IA, DESC ISR and CBUAE require strong authentication, least privilege, device control and continuous monitoring, all of which are zero trust principles. We map each control to the relevant requirement for your auditors.
