Microsoft Vulnerability Management in UAE
What Is Microsoft Defender Vulnerability Management?
Microsoft Defender Vulnerability Management (MDVM) provides continuous, agent-based discovery and assessment of software vulnerabilities, missing patches, insecure configurations, browser extensions, certificates and firmware across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android devices.
Because it uses the Defender for Endpoint agent, there is no separate scanner, no credentialed scan windows and no gap between scans — assessment is continuous and includes devices that rarely connect to the corporate network.
Its differentiator is exposure-based prioritisation: findings are ranked by exploit availability, active threat campaigns and device criticality rather than CVSS alone, which shortens a list of thousands to the few dozen that genuinely matter this week.
Vulnerability Challenges We Solve
Remote devices never scanned
Traditional network scanners miss laptops that rarely touch the corporate network.
CVSS-only prioritisation
Hundreds of critical-rated findings with no indication which are actually being exploited.
No path from finding to fix
Vulnerabilities are reported but never routed to the team that can patch them.
Configuration gaps ignored
Insecure settings and missing hardening go unaddressed because only CVEs get attention.
Audit reporting by hand
Evidence assembled manually each quarter instead of exported from the platform.
Our Microsoft VM Services
MDVM Deployment & Configuration
Enable vulnerability management across all onboarded devices with device groups and exception handling.
Risk-Based Prioritisation Setup
Configure exposure scoring, device criticality and threat-aware ranking to focus effort.
Intune Remediation Integration
Route findings into Intune remediation tasks so patches and configuration fixes actually deploy.
Security Baseline Assessment
Measure devices against CIS and Microsoft security baselines alongside CVE findings.
Software Inventory & Shadow IT Discovery
Complete application inventory including unsupported and unauthorised software.
Certificate, Firmware & Extension Assessment
Expiring certificates, vulnerable firmware and risky browser extensions identified and tracked.
SLA & Remediation Governance
Ownership, deadlines and verification so findings close rather than accumulate.
Compliance Reporting
Exportable evidence for NESA/UAE IA, DESC ISR, CBUAE, ADHICS, PCI DSS and ISO 27001.
Our Delivery Approach
1. Enable & Scope
Turn on MDVM across device groups and validate coverage against your asset inventory.
2. Prioritise
Configure exposure scoring and device criticality so the top of the list is genuinely the top.
3. Remediate
Connect findings to Intune and ticketing with owners, SLAs and verification.
4. Report
Trend dashboards for leadership and control evidence for auditors.
Why Choose Skytech for Microsoft Vulnerability Management?
Skytech Cyber Cloud operates vulnerability management as a managed service for clients across the UAE and GCC, combining Microsoft tooling with the governance that makes remediation happen. Our engineers hold SC-200, MD-102 and MS-500 certifications.
- Uses what you own: no additional scanner licence where Defender for Endpoint P2 or the MDVM add-on is already in place.
- Remediation-focused: success measured by vulnerabilities closed, not vulnerabilities found.
- Threat-aware: prioritisation informed by what our SOC sees exploited regionally.
- Audit-ready: reporting formatted for UAE regulators and PCI DSS assessors.

Microsoft VM FAQs
Do we need a separate vulnerability scanner if we have Defender?
Often not for endpoints and servers running the Defender agent, since MDVM assesses them continuously. A dedicated scanner is still useful for network appliances, OT devices and unauthenticated external perspective, so most organisations run both with MDVM covering the majority of the estate.
What licences include vulnerability management?
Defender for Endpoint P2 and Microsoft 365 E5 include core vulnerability management. The Defender Vulnerability Management add-on extends this with security baseline assessment, browser extension and certificate inventory, blocking vulnerable applications and network share analysis.
How does exposure-based prioritisation differ from CVSS?
CVSS scores severity in isolation. Microsoft exposure scoring also factors in whether an exploit exists publicly, whether the vulnerability is in active threat campaigns, how many devices are affected and how critical those devices are, which produces a far shorter and more useful priority list.
Can findings be fixed automatically?
Partially. MDVM creates remediation tasks that flow into Intune, where patches and configuration changes can be deployed automatically for supported software. Third-party applications may need packaging or a patch management tool, which we help configure.
Does MDVM cover servers and Linux?
Yes. It covers Windows clients and servers, macOS, major Linux distributions, iOS and Android, as well as Azure and on-premises servers onboarded to Defender for Endpoint.
How long does deployment take?
Enabling and validating coverage takes 1 to 2 weeks on an existing Defender deployment. Configuring prioritisation, Intune remediation workflows, SLAs and reporting typically takes a further 4 to 6 weeks.
