Network Architecture & Segmentation in UAE
What Is Network Security Architecture & Segmentation?
Network security architecture is the design of how your networks, cloud environments, data centres and remote users connect and are protected. Segmentation divides the network into zones so that a compromise in one area, such as a user laptop, cannot spread to critical servers, databases or industrial control systems.
Flat networks are the reason ransomware spreads from one phishing click to an entire organisation. NESA/UAE IA, DESC ISR, CBUAE, PCI DSS and IEC 62443 all require network zoning, firewalling between zones and controlled remote access, especially for critical infrastructure and OT environments common in the UAE.
Our network security services cover assessment, zero trust architecture, segmentation design, firewall and SASE implementation and ongoing management.
Network Challenges We Solve
Flat networks
Users, servers, printers, cameras and OT devices share the same network, so one compromise reaches everything.
Firewall rule sprawl
Years of ad-hoc rules leave permissive, undocumented access that nobody dares to remove.
OT and IT convergence
Industrial systems are reachable from corporate networks and vendors without proper zoning or monitoring.
Remote and cloud access
Legacy VPNs grant full network access to any authenticated device, including compromised ones.
Regulatory requirements
NESA, DESC ISR, CBUAE and PCI DSS demand documented segmentation, DMZs and controlled third-party access.
Our Network Security Services
Network Security Architecture Review
Assess topology, segmentation, firewall policies and remote access against zero trust and regulatory requirements.
Zero Trust Network Design
Identity- and device-aware access to applications instead of network-wide trust, aligned with NIST SP 800-207.
Segmentation & Micro-Segmentation
Zone design, VLAN and VRF restructuring and workload micro-segmentation with Illumio, Cisco, VMware or cloud-native controls.
OT / ICS Network Segmentation
Purdue model zoning, IT/OT DMZs and secure remote access for industrial, utility and energy environments aligned to IEC 62443.
Next-Generation Firewall Deployment
Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco and Check Point implementation, migration and rule-base optimisation.
SASE & Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA)
Replace legacy VPN with Zscaler, Netskope, Palo Alto Prisma or Microsoft Global Secure Access.
Cloud Network Security

Our Network Security Approach
1. Discover
Map assets, traffic flows and dependencies across IT, cloud and OT.
2. Design
Target zone model, access policies and firewall/SASE architecture with migration plan.
3. Implement
Phased segmentation with monitor-mode validation before enforcement to avoid outages.
4. Govern
Rule lifecycle management, change control and periodic reviews.
Why Choose Skytech for Network Security in the UAE?
Skytech Cyber Cloud’s network security architects and engineers hold Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco, Zscaler and Microsoft certifications and have segmented networks for banks, government entities, utilities, manufacturers and enterprises across the UAE and GCC, including OT environments.
- Outage-free segmentation: flow discovery and monitor-mode validation before every enforcement step.
- OT expertise: IEC 62443 and Purdue-model designs for industrial and critical infrastructure.
- Regulation-aligned: NESA/UAE IA, DESC ISR, CBUAE and PCI DSS network requirements built in.
- Integrated visibility: network telemetry connected to our SIEM and XDR operations.

Network Security FAQs
What is network segmentation and why does it matter?
Segmentation divides a network into zones with controlled traffic between them. It limits how far an attacker or ransomware can spread, protects critical systems and is required by NESA, DESC ISR, CBUAE, PCI DSS and OT standards such as IEC 62443.
What is the difference between segmentation and micro-segmentation?
Traditional segmentation uses VLANs and firewalls to separate large zones. Micro-segmentation applies policies at the workload or host level so that even servers in the same zone can only talk to what they need, which is essential in virtualised and cloud environments.
Can you segment an OT or industrial network safely?
Yes. We follow the Purdue model and IEC 62443, discover flows passively first, introduce IT/OT DMZs and enforce in stages with maintenance windows agreed with operations teams.
Should we replace our VPN with ZTNA?
In most cases yes. ZTNA grants access per application based on identity and device health rather than exposing the whole network, which reduces lateral movement and improves user experience. We help you choose between Zscaler, Netskope, Prisma Access and Microsoft options.
How long does a segmentation project take?
A network security review takes 3 to 5 weeks. Segmentation design and phased implementation typically run 3 to 9 months depending on the size of the estate and OT involvement.
Which firewall vendors do you work with?
Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cisco, Check Point and Sophos, plus cloud-native firewalls in Azure and AWS.
