Mobile Application Security Testing in UAE
What Is Mobile App Penetration Testing?
Mobile application penetration testing assesses the security of an iOS or Android app, its local data, its communications and the backend services behind it. Testers decompile and instrument the app on rooted and jailbroken devices, inspect what it stores on the handset, intercept its traffic and attack the APIs it calls.
Banking, payment, healthcare and government apps in the UAE handle sensitive personal and financial data regulated by CBUAE, ADHICS, the PDPL and PCI DSS. App stores and enterprise customers also expect evidence of security testing before release.
We follow the OWASP MASVS and MASTG, covering both the client application and the server side it relies on.
Mobile Challenges We Solve
Sensitive data stored on the device
Tokens, personal data and keys written to local storage, logs or backups where malware or a thief can read them.
Weak transport security
Missing certificate pinning and poor TLS validation allow traffic interception on hostile networks.
Insecure backend APIs
The app enforces rules the server does not, so any user can call the API directly and bypass them.
Reverse engineering and tampering
Hardcoded secrets, missing obfuscation and no root or jailbreak detection in high-risk apps.
Authentication and session handling
Biometric bypass, long-lived tokens and session reuse across devices.

Our Mobile Testing Process
1. Scope & Build
Agree platforms, builds, test accounts and backend environments.
2. Static Analysis
Decompile and review the application package, configuration and embedded secrets.
3. Dynamic Analysis
Runtime instrumentation, traffic interception and backend exploitation.
4. Report & Retest
MASVS-mapped findings, developer debrief and free retest of fixes.
Why Choose Skytech for Mobile App Testing?
Skytech Cyber Cloud tests mobile applications for banks, fintechs, government services, healthcare providers and retailers across the UAE and GCC. Our testers hold OSCP and mobile-specific certifications and work on physical rooted and jailbroken device labs rather than emulators alone.
- Client and server: we test the app and the APIs behind it, where most real risk sits.
- MASVS-aligned: structured, repeatable coverage you can show to auditors and customers.
- Release-friendly: fast turnaround and free retesting to keep your release schedule.
- Regional context: experience with UAE banking, wallet and government app requirements.

Mobile App Testing FAQs
How long does a mobile app penetration test take?
A single platform typically takes 5 to 8 working days including the backend APIs. Testing both iOS and Android versions of the same app usually takes 8 to 12 days because much of the backend work is shared.
Do you need the source code?
No, we can test from the compiled IPA or APK. Source code enables deeper white box coverage and is recommended for high-risk applications such as banking and payment apps.
Do you test apps built with React Native or Flutter?
Yes. We use framework-specific tooling to unpack and instrument React Native, Flutter, Xamarin and Ionic applications alongside native iOS and Android.
What is OWASP MASVS?
The Mobile Application Security Verification Standard defines security requirements for mobile apps across storage, cryptography, authentication, network, platform interaction, code quality and resilience, with verification levels for different risk profiles.
Can you test before we publish to the app stores?
Yes, and we recommend it. We test pre-release builds distributed through TestFlight, Firebase App Distribution or direct APK so issues are fixed before public release.
Do you check compliance with UAE banking requirements?
Yes. For financial applications we map findings to CBUAE expectations, PCI DSS where card data is involved and PDPL requirements for personal data handling.
