What licences does Purview require?
Basic sensitivity labels and DLP for Exchange, SharePoint and OneDrive are included in Microsoft 365 E3. Endpoint DLP, auto-labelling, insider risk management and advanced classification require E5 or the E5 Compliance add-on. We confirm entitlement during assessment.
How many sensitivity labels should we create?
Usually three to five top-level labels such as Public, Internal, Confidential and Restricted, with a small number of sub-labels where needed. Complex taxonomies fail because users cannot decide, which produces worse outcomes than a simple scheme consistently applied.
Does Purview help with UAE PDPL compliance?
Yes. Classification identifies personal data, labels and encryption provide technical safeguards, DLP prevents unauthorised disclosure, retention policies support storage limitation and audit logs evidence control — all of which map to PDPL obligations.
Will DLP block legitimate work?
Not when deployed properly. We run policies in audit mode first, measure what would have been blocked, tune to remove false positives and add policy tips that educate users before moving to enforcement on genuinely high-risk actions.
Can Purview protect data after it leaves our organisation?
