Cloud Zero Trust Implementation in UAE
What Is Cloud Zero Trust?
Zero trust assumes no user, device, network or workload is trusted by default. Every access request is verified explicitly using identity, device health and context; access granted is the least privilege needed, just in time; and the environment is assumed breached, so everything is segmented and monitored.
In cloud, this translates to concrete work: phishing-resistant MFA, conditional access policies, device compliance enforcement, privileged identity management with just-in-time elevation, workload identity instead of stored keys, micro-segmentation and continuous monitoring of access decisions.
NIST SP 800-207 provides the reference model, and UAE frameworks such as NESA/UAE IA, DESC ISR and CBUAE increasingly expect these controls, particularly least privilege and strong authentication.
Zero Trust Challenges We Solve
Strategy without delivery
A zero trust slide deck exists but no control has actually changed in production.
Implicit trust from the network
Being on the corporate VPN still grants broad access regardless of user or device state.
Standing cloud privilege
Administrators hold permanent high-privilege roles instead of just-in-time elevation.
Unmanaged devices
Personal and contractor devices reach corporate data with no compliance or health check.
Fear of breaking things
Conditional access and least privilege are deferred because nobody wants to lock out the business.
Our Zero Trust Services
Zero Trust Assessment & Roadmap
Maturity assessment against NIST SP 800-207 with a phased, business-safe implementation plan.
Phishing-Resistant Authentication
FIDO2, Windows Hello and certificate-based authentication replacing SMS and push-only MFA.
Conditional Access Design & Rollout
Risk-based policies combining identity, device compliance, location and application sensitivity.
Just-in-Time Privileged Access
Entra PIM and cloud PAM so administrative rights are elevated only when needed and approved.
Device Trust & Compliance
Intune or equivalent compliance policies enforced as a condition of access.
Micro-Segmentation
Workload-level segmentation in cloud and data centre so lateral movement is contained.
ZTNA Replacing Legacy VPN
Per-application access with Entra Global Secure Access, Zscaler or Netskope instead of flat VPN.
Continuous Verification & Monitoring
Sign-in risk, session controls and access anomaly detection fed to our SOC.
Our Zero Trust Approach
1. Assess & Prioritise
Measure current maturity and select the controls with the best risk reduction per unit of disruption.
2. Pilot
Roll out to a pilot group in report-only mode, measuring impact before enforcement.
3. Enforce in Waves
Expand by population and application with communications and support at each step.
4. Verify Continuously
Monitor access decisions, review entitlements and tighten policies over time.
Why Choose Skytech for Zero Trust in the UAE?
Skytech Cyber Cloud has delivered zero trust programmes for banks, government entities, healthcare providers and enterprises across the UAE and GCC, with deep Microsoft Entra, Intune and Defender expertise alongside Zscaler and Netskope experience.
- Delivered, not theorised: we implement policies in production, not just architecture documents.
- Business-safe rollout: report-only pilots and staged waves so nobody is locked out unexpectedly.
- Licence-efficient: maximum value from Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 entitlements you already own.
- Regulation-mapped: controls tied to NESA/UAE IA, DESC ISR, CBUAE and ISO 27001 requirements.

Zero Trust FAQs
Is zero trust a product we can buy?
No. Zero trust is an architecture and operating model delivered through controls you largely already own: identity, conditional access, device management, privileged access and segmentation. Vendors sell components, not the model itself.
Where should we start?
Identity, almost always. Phishing-resistant MFA, conditional access tied to device compliance and removing standing privileged access deliver the largest risk reduction early, before network segmentation work begins.
Will zero trust lock out our users?
Not with a staged rollout. We run policies in report-only mode first, analyse exactly who would be affected, fix exclusions and device gaps, then enforce by wave with communications and support ready.
Can we do zero trust with Microsoft 365 licences we already have?
Largely yes. Entra ID P1 or P2, Intune and Defender cover conditional access, device compliance, privileged identity management and risk-based policies. We map what your current licences enable before recommending any new spend.
How long does a zero trust programme take?
Identity and conditional access foundations are typically delivered in 2 to 4 months. A full programme including segmentation, ZTNA and continuous verification usually runs 9 to 18 months in phases.
Does zero trust replace our VPN?
Eventually, for most use cases. Zero trust network access grants per-application access based on identity and device state rather than placing a device on the network, which removes the broad lateral movement a VPN enables.
